Beggars

“But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you” - Luke 11:41

Heecha Basya was a 45 year old beggar in bellary district Karnataka with mental disability. He was a famous beggar in that area. He will take only one rupee from those who offer alms to him. He will refuse if given more than that. He will bless them with a smile whenever anyone offers him alms. He won't disturb anyone. He died in a bus accident few months back. Few organizations, storekeepers and individuals collected money and organized a funeral for him. Around 4000 people took part in his funeral. The kindness shown to that mentally disabled beggar is wonderful. When Jesus was in this world, there was a blind man sitting by the road side and begging. He heard that Jesus coming that way and cried out “Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me”. Many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, “Thou son of David, have mercy on me". Jesus didn't discard or ignore him because he is a beggar but asked him what he wants Jesus to do for him. He said "Lord that I might receive my sight" God healed him. This is the love of Lord Jesus Christ.

My dear! Don't think lightly of the beggars. At the same time don't make the beggars wait. One is reaching out as he lost everything. The other is refusing to help as he has everything he wants. Who is the beggar in this situation, let us think.

In most of the situations the words we express out of anger will hurt them more than society or parents or their family did to them. That is not the preaching of Jesus. He went to these types of people for ministry. He wants us to follow that. How many times have we talked to these kinds of people with kindness? Think. If we can't help them, our kind words will be a medicine for their injured heart. We can help them with the money we waste on our birthdays, wedding days. This love is what God expects from us.
