Cultural disaster

 

“And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorra into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly” - 2 Peter 2:6

 

Our Indian culture is filled with the lot of good things. Western culture came in to destroy our culture. As a continuation this, friends through social media, same gender marriage, raping young children, young generation losing their lives in internet, children don't want to obey their parents, ways to succeed without education, getting jobs in shortcuts, or money making, capturing accidents in videos rather than panicking and helping them are disastrous to our culture and are we worried about that? Or do we think when these all will over? These issues are not only in the community but also penetrated the church which plays a vital part in bringing salvation to the people. 

 

These are not only the issues of the community but also the beginning of human lawlessness. In the Bible we can see the end of such communities and the way God destroyed those communities. For example, in Genesis 11 God twisted their language because they were proud. God destroyed the people lived at the time of Noah because of their sin. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorra because of the cultural disaster they had at that time (homosexuality).

 

In the New Testament, such punishment is not present at the moment but, according to 2 peter 20 "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning." 

 

Yes, my dear! First Thomas then lot of missionaries sacrificed a lot to know the love of God and through them we accepted Jesus Christ and what is the after math of our society amidst all this cultural disasters? Verses 2 Peter 5-7 says "beware of this insanity and flee from them". Our society will transform if we make change in ourselves. So let us have faith in God and flee from sin. Let us bring change to this society as much as we could.
