Pay back

 

“…Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” - Matthew 5:44

 

It rained for few days; it not only cooled our land but also our mind. Think rain is giving lot of good things in our lives. We experience that rain, but we donate pay it back. But it is doing good for everyone without any discrimination. In Mathew 5 Jesus says in the sermon on the mount "I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;". The meaning of this is we must help others. If we do good without any expectations, i.e. we shouldn't help thinking they will pay us back or they are useful to us. Thirukural a book that teaches lot of good things also says do good like rain without any expectations. 

 

 And Jesus says if we help with expectations, we will be like Pharisees. We should reflect Jesus in our lives and in our approach because we believe in him and walk in his path. Jesus didn't expect anything from us, we cannot pay him back, yet he gave his life for our salvation. 

 

Nowadays in lot of situations, we love those who love us, and we hate those who hate us. This is love with expectation. But our love shouldn't be bound by expectations and vanity that's what God wants. So, help the needy without any expectations, it will not only express the God's love but also it will be an opportunity for others to taste God's love.
