Daily Devotion (English) – 24.12.2022 (Christmas Special)

 

A meaningful Christmas in simplicity.

 

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” - Matthew 5:3

 

In this modern world, we can see the influence of luxury in people's mindset, things they use, even in the words they use as if the meaning of simplicity could be forgotten. Christians are not excluded from this. It can be seen especially during festivals. But our Savior Lord Jesus Christ left us an example of simplicity from His birth to death. 

 

The God beyond boundaries chose a birthplace for His Son not in a Great city but an ordinary village of Bethlehem. He didn't choose a royal palace or a bungalow but a manger. Mary who is going to be the mother to that Baby is not a queen or a princess or a beautiful woman but a normal poor virgin. The birth of the Savior was not told by the angels to the rich people of that country, or the king but they appeared to the shepherds who were considered as a nomad. When He was fulfilling his ministry, He didn't have a place to lie down, He didn't have a grave for Him when He died. This means, he is not only the God for the poor, He is the King of kings. All the riches, gold, silver, power, kingdoms all were created by Him. Being such a Great God, He led a simple life and left us an example that is, the life in this world is not permanent for us being His followers. 

 

My dear! Bible doesn't preach that having riches, wealth or money is bad. But the Bible opposes the thought that only these are important. Simplicity is not prioritizing the resources of this world but traveling towards the heavenly blessings. If we have such thoughts unwanted luxuries will disappear from our lives. We will prevent the unwanted luxury activities and expenses. Let our lives be easy for the downtrodden to mingle with us easily. Amen.
