Need for the Bible

 

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.” - Psalms 19:7

 

Mary Jones was born in Whales in 1784. She lost her father when she was 4 and her family struggles a lot in the economic crisis happened in Whales. She had a habit of going to church with her mom so she was filled with the love of God when she was 8. That church accepted he as a member. That time most of the homes didn't have a bible. They had a bible in the church and in a home 2 miles away. Mary walked to that house for 2 miles to read the Bible eagerly. She thought to have a Bible for herself. She longed for reading Bible daily. She started to save money when she was 10 till 16 for 16 years. She was jumping in happiness as she had enough money to buy a Bible for her. But buying a Bible was very hard. She didn't get a Bible. 

 

She heard Thomas Charles had Bible and he lives in Bala 42 kms away, she reached Thomas Charles walking with bare foot. She asked for a Bible. She started crying as he said all the Bibles he had were sold out. Thomas Charles saw the love she had fort the Bible so he said , I have a Bible but it was paid for by someone else. he told Mary to take it, on hearing this Mary was overjoyed. Now I got a Bible for myself. So I will teach Bible to my people and she went happily. This incident made an impact in Charles Thomas' mind that " Bible should reach everyone". Thus Bible society was born. Within 1907, 20 crores and 40 lakhs copies of Bibles and New testaments were distributed in many places. 

 

My dear! How wonderful is the Bible we hold in our ands now. Lot of people do not read Bible daily. Let us read, love meditate and walk by the Bible God gave us. Let us encourage the children we guide to read the Bible by giving them a New Testament, then a full Bible. After seeing " Need for the Bible" in our journal lot of children of God are donating Bibles and we are distributing them in or mission fields. Pray for those who receive the bibles and for their lives to be built in Christ.
