Punishment for lying
“…You have not lied to men but to God.” - Acts 5:4
A missionary was doing his ministry in North India. He helped the poor and needy. Knowing this few people planned to lie to him and get money. They told one of them to act dead while the missionary is coming. They told this him, " he has nobody, we don't have money to bury him." He gave money and prayed, " God, let his soul rest in peace, told them to bury him" and went his way. They tried to wake him up when he went. But he didn't respond, he was dead. Like that missionary prayed, his soul was in peace. Did you see the punishment for lying to a holy man?
Like this, in the Bible, Ananias and Sapphira! Ananias sold the land, kept a portion of it for them and brought the remaining to the apostles and kept it in their feet. Peter asked Ananias, Tell me whether you sold the land for so much? and asked "him why did you lie? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. His wife Sapphira said yes to Peter for asking Tell me whether you sold the land for so much? Peter told her how is it that you have agreed to lie together? Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last.
God doesn't want to destroy us but to bless us. But lying to children of God is equal to lying against God. Let us speak truth to God and people and escape from the punishment is yet to come. Let God be our blessings.
