Don't stop running

 

“If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses?” - Jeremiah 12:5

 

Harold Abraham is a top sprinter in England. He is a professional in 100 meters dash. His aim was that he should be the winner in all the games. Eric Liddell was his rival. Eric was professional in 400 meters running. They both were training heavily for the 1924 Paris Olympics. Eric overtook Harold in a trial game. Harold was irritated and decided he won't run again. On seeing this his friends tried to motivate him. He said angrily "I run to win, if I can't win, I won’t run". Harold's friend told him wisely, "if you don't run, you can never win". Harold came to his senses as he understood the deep meaning in these words.

 

We are living in world filled with competition. We are tired because of the failures we face. We are pushed to a pitiful situation like Harold, "I will be like this". But this is not a proper approach. If we face a failure, how can I come out of this situation? What have I learnt from this? are few things we have to decide. 

 

God advise us to run tirelessly in both Christian and spiritual lives. We might be surrounded by situations in which we say, " it is enough Lord ". But God tells us "Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you." Paul warns us in Colossians 2:18 that "Let no one cheat you of your reward". God is telling us to " continue your race with hope". Yea, we will have a happiness for my race and efforts are not in vain. Amen!
