Slave to Christ 

 

“But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” – 1 Peter 1:19

 

It was during the peak time of slave trade; an English trader was travelling on a slave carrying ship. One day he saw a particular slave. He was moved with pity and love once he knew him. He asked the price of this slave; it was more expensive than the entire trip cost itself. But still he bought that slave paying the full amount. This slave thought he was bought to be a slave, so he hated and cursed him. But the trader said to him with love, son I bought you for a high price to give you freedom for free. This slave was amazed and extremely happy and said, " sir, you imprisoned my heart, I will be your slave for the rest of my life", fell on his knees weeping. 

 

Let us imagine ourselves in these Lent days. How many times have we ignored the calling, the love of Jesus the Savior Who shed His own blood and life to free us from satan, sin, curse, hell for no cost? How else can we accept His calling and love other than saying, I am your slave and offer our spirit, soul and body?

 

A slave can't do according to his own will. He must do his master's will. Like this, he has to hate his own will and endure hardships. He must serve his master throughout his life. Let God help us in these lent days to be the slaves of Christ, to obey his words, to do His will, to hate our own will, to endure hardships, to serve Him for our entire life!
