Love that gives life

 

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” - John 15:13

 

John Harper Peg accepted Jesus Christ when he was 13. He got married, his wife died within 4 years. They had a girl named Nina. Harper was doing ministry, he was invited to preach in Moody's church. So he and her daughter boarded on Titanic on 1912 April 12th. Unfortunately, Titanic crashed on an ice berg and started sinking, he boarded his daughter on an life boat and told her "I will meet you someday". He helped others to board the life boat though he had space for himself to board the life boat. Then he came to those who were scared to die, " women, children and those who weren't redeemed get on the life boat", when he was saying this the ship started sinking. People started to jump into ice cold water. Harper was one among them. 

 

Before people freeze to death in that ice cold water, Harper started guiding them towards Christ. He saw an young boy got on a wooden plank and trying to stay alive. He asked, " Have you redeemed?". He replied with a no. So he gave his life jacket to that boy and said, " You need this jacket more than me" shared the gospel and guided him towards Christ. Only 6 among 1528 people on the ship were saved. Among them was that young boy. A meeting was organised for these people after 4 years, this young boy stood up shared his experience and how Harper shared gospel when he was in that ice cold water, when the time came for him to sink as he was too weak to swim, he remembered Harper's final words with tears " Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved". This wonderful man's deeds might have not been made into a Hollywood movie, but he will be answered in Heaven. 

 

Jesus Christ loved us, gave His life for us, being the Son of God, gave His life for us, shed His pure blood to give us freedom for free, He is a super hero for eternity. Those who believe in Him and sacrifice for Him are also heroes.
