Gratitude

 

"...Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits" - Psalm 103:2

 

A blind boy was sitting and begging, in a prominent place. A board next to him was placed reading "I'm blind help me". Some people gave him some coins and the coins were scattered near his bowl. A man passing by took those coins and put them in the bowl then he wrote something on the board next to the boy. In no time the bowl started filling up with coins. Some stopped and gave him money. That evening the man who rewrote the board came to find out what was going on. Hearing the sound of his footsteps, the boy knew that it was him and asked, "Sir, who are you? What have you written? I am being given surplus money" The man replied, "I have written the truth. I have slightly changed what you wrote." The boy asked, " What did you write?." The man explained "This is the happiest and a wonderful day! I cannot see it! But you enjoy this world so you are gifted.” I wrote this. Those who read this felt themselves privileged. Their hearts were filled with gratitude. They thanked God for their health and work.

 

Yes, most of the time we don’t feel thankful for what the Lord has done for us. During the days of the Lord Jesus, 10 lepers came to Him for healing and cried out, Lord, have mercy on us. According to the word of Jesus, all 10 people received healing. But only one in 10 returned and thanked Jesus.

 

Yes, beloved, our Lord did not expect anything but gave Himself on the cross for us. He expects us to be grateful and thank him. Let us be thankful for the blessings and comforts that are placed in our hands each and every day. Let's give thanks for what we have instead of longing for what we don't have! Let us be thankful for a healthy body, for the functioning of our body parts, for the salvation and anointing received by us through him.
