Word Spoken

 

“A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: And a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” - Proverbs 15:23

 

In the Old Testament, Mordecai said to Esther, "If you keep silent in these times, salvation for the Jew will arise from another place. You may have received kingship to help in such a situation. Who knows?" Those words made Esther fast and gave her the courage to break the law and enter the king's house. Thus the Jews were saved from destruction.

 

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who were condemned to be thrown into the fiery furnace because they refused to worship the golden image made by Nebuchadnezzar, God saved them according to the words of those three, "The God we worship is able to save us." The king glorified that the Lord is true God. All three were exalted in the nation.

 

In the New Testament, when a Canaanite woman asked Jesus to free her daughter from the clutches of the devil, Jesus told her that he had been sent to the house of Israel, and therefore it was not good to give the children's bread to the dogs. But the woman's words, "Dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the table," caused Jesus to praise her faith and deliver her daughter.

 

As Jesus hung on the cross, a thief's timely words, "Lord, remember your servant when you come into your kingdom," earned him paradise and eternal happiness.

 

Beloved! The above Biblical sources show that man is happy with his speech and how good words spoken at the right time are. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. When our hearts are filled with the word of God, the Word fills our hearts as the Spirit. Then it is not we who speak, but the Spirit. We will be happy with the language we speak to God and man. The words we speak at the right time will bring us great benefit!
