Peaceful life

 

"…for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way..” - 1 Tim. 2:2

 

When we think of August Independence Day comes to mind. Many times, we lament that "in the so-called democracy of India, government by the people, for the people is a cloak."But the scriptures give us a promise, "That ye may live devoutly, and virtuously, and peaceably, without rebellion. The commandment for that is that ye shall pray for kings and those in authority."

 

In the Bible, we have always been given blessings and promises which is followed by command. A simple way to own the promise that everyone wants, or needs is to pray for leaders and those in authority. It is not difficult for us. Leaders and those in power are human! They are also weak as us. We can live peacefully without rebellion when we hold them in prayer and tell God about all our grievances instead of talking to people. A common good in self-good too. If the leaders, officers, and security are free of defects, we may not riot but live peacefully. That is what the book of Esther is dedicated to teach us. When she fasted for three days and prayed with one accord, sorrow, crying, and lamentation turned into light, joy, peace, and honour. The Father who sees us inwardly rewards outwardly. (Matthew 6:4) The prayer you pray will lead to a peaceful life.

 

Beloved, we are those who desire to live a peaceful life. Let us feel it’s our duty to pray for the leaders and for each of the government officials. Let's pray from today because our simple prayer can change rebellion into peace. Let's teach our children to pray for leaders and officials so that they can live long life without rebellion, just as we help them to follow the commandment with blessings, "Honour your parents so that our children's lives will be long." Pray for the nation in family prayer everyday. Let us pray for the nation when we gather together with the believers as women's unity and men's unity. We will see changes in the nation.
