How long to wait?
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life" – Proverbs 13:12
A beautiful parrot with a bright green and gourd colored body was circling the trees in the forest. The parrots eye caught a tree with overgrown branches, large leaves and long pods. It was waiting for the time of fruit ripening with the desire to somehow eat the fruit of this tree. Alas, the pods did not ripen and dried up and the fluff flew away. The waiting was a great disappointment.
In the scriptures John 5.5 we read of a man who had been sick for thirty-eight years. Let's think about it. The man who was sick for 38 years only saw when the water would be mixed. But what happened? Someone else goes and heals him. There was no one to help him. So he waited for 38 years. Fortunately, Jesus sought and healed the man. Otherwise his 38 years of waiting would have gone in vain. Similarly in our life we keep waiting for marriage, child, building a house and job. But many times we face failure.
Brothers and sisters who are reading this! How is your wait? Is it like a parrot waiting for the fruit without knowing the true status of the cotton tree? Or is it towards the Lord who truly delivers us from sickness, from trouble, from lack of peace? To whom and what for your waiting is? Think, Wait on the Lord; He will strengthen your heart; Be strong and wait on the Lord. (Psalm 27:14)
