Slackness
"as some count slackness..." - 2 Peter 3:9
The preacher D.L. moody, one day went to sleep exhausted after completing the whole day's work. God woke him up at mid- night and said, "Go tell the gospel to your cook." But D.L. Moodi was tired and said "I will preach tomorrow when it dawns" and went to bed. Alas, the cook was found dead by commiting suicide when he visited in the morning. Seeing this D.L. Moody realized it was his slackness and burst into tears.
In the scriptures we read of those who lost many blessings because of delay. Jacob cheats and receives the blessing because Esau was late to bring the food to his father. Lot delayed to leave Sodom. We read that the messengers took them by the hand and led them out of the city. We know that the effect of delaying intensity is not beneficial. At the same time, we also know that the Jews were saved because of Esther's zeal.
Beloved, delay causes us to miss many blessings. Anything done late is equivalent to nothing done. Obedience late equals disobedience! Even today, many of us do not get many benefits because we go to the church late, and attend the worship or neglect the worship. Some ask that the second coming of the Lord is delayed... because His long-suffering over us, wanting all to repent so that none should perish. So shall we not delay but act quickly for the kingdom of heaven?
