The coming Savior

 

"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Behold, your King is coming to you;..." - Zechariah 9:9

 

  Before 500 years, the prophet Zechariah prophesied what would happen at the first coming of the Saviour. He who is too come will not only be righteous and save the world from sin, but he will also be humble. As he said, he was not born in a palace but in a cowshed,to show his humility.

 

Before Jesus Christ was died on the cross, he rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. We read the fulfilment of Zechariah in Matthew 21:4-11. We see that Zechariah (9:9) was fulfilled just as it was said. Zechariah was an important prophet among those who foretold the coming of the Saviour.

 

He prophesied not only the first coming but also the second coming. "The Lord will go forth and fight with those nations as he fights in the day of battle ... (Zechariah 14:3,4) Thus Zechariah prophesied about the two comings of our Saviour. What is that Saviour Jesus like? He is humble, righteous, and ascended as a king; but the coming king, the twilight He who is going to destroy Anti Christ's reign and reign over the earth for a thousand years wants to qualify us for that reign.

 

The first coming brought us redemption. Jesus' immaculate blood was shed on the cross to wash away our sins and curses. What joy and peace filled our hearts when we were washed by that pure blood! If we are similarly prepared, we will meet him at his second coming. We will have rapture like never before. There are so many things that He has prepared for us who will live with Him forever and ever. Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have they entered into the heart of men the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." (1 Corinthians 2:9)

 

Yes, the things that God has prepared for us are so noble and high that we cannot even imagine them, so let us be ready to inherit them. The coming of the Saviour is very nearby. Let us all prepare for His Second Coming and not just celebrate Christmas as a commemoration of the First Coming. Let's get ready; Let's prepare others too! Amen!
