A seed for eternity

 

"…who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life" - Galatians 6:8

 

Rita and Sheila are pious believers who attend the same church. A widow named Kamala came to work in both of their house . Kamala was struggling to pay her husband's loan. Hearing this, Rita helped her once by giving her money. She didn't help after that, thinking that she was acting wisely that she would get used to it every month. But Sheila did what she could whenever possible. Which of these two sowed for eternity?

 

During the days when Jesus Christ lived on earth, a leader asked him, good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? He said some things, Jesus said there is still one thing lacking in you. Sell all that you have and give to the poor. Then you will have treasure in heaven, then follow me.

 

And even though sowing for the flesh in the bible brings us excellence and elevation in this worldly life, its harvest is destruction. But when we sow to the Spirit we can reap eternal life after our earthly life is over.

 

Beloved, as the above incidents say, helping the poor and needy among us is equal to our sowing in eternity. Even if this world does not know it, heaven will surely know it. If we do not store up treasures in this world, but we store up in heaven, it is eternal and permanent. The purpose of our Christianity is to somehow gain that eternal life. Ap. Paul urges the disciples not to grow weary in doing good works. So we will sow eternal seeds. We will surely see the fruits of the seeds we sow here one day in eternity. Because it is Jesus who causes the seed to grow.
