"…who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil" - Acts. 10:38
Helping others without expecting anything in return is the greatest act of kindness. In the Bible, Paul writes, "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works." It is a divine nature to seek out and help those in need.
Born in a small village in Albania, Mother Teresa came to India on December 6, 1929. She felt as if her head would explode as she saw the rampant murder, rape and violence in front of his eyes due to the partition of Pakistan. Stayed in a nunnery. First she found and addressed the needs of people suffering from poverty and disease. She carried lepers and treated them. Her mutt operated in a slum street near a temple. A temple priest dared to kill her. Later he himself became a disciple of Teresa. She adopted poor children and cleaned them with her own hands. She saw the charity of the people as the charity of the Supreme Father. Awards poured in from all over the world. She spent everything on poor children. In 1979, she received the Nobel Prize for World Peace. Teresa ended her run with the goal of giving back to people throughout her life.
We read in the Bible that our Lord Jesus Christ not only preached the gospel throughout his ministry days but also helped all the people in need. Jesus, who said, "Whatever you did to one of the least of these, you did to me," demonstrated that he did the same in his days of ministry. When St.Luke mentions this, he writes about Jesus as "he went about doing good."
Beloved in Christ! Doing good to others is like a seed. We are created by God to do good. "Do not forget to do good and to give alms, for God is pleased with such sacrifices," beautifully writes the Hebrew Epistle to us. Let us not grow weary in doing good, and reap in due season if we do not grow weary. Sow goodness and reap goodness.
