Keep calm

 

"And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing" - Math. 27:12

 

In the year 2012, a cricket match was going on between Australia and India at the Sydney Stadium. One of our Indian soldiers was standing near the boundary line. The audience mocked him. They also spoke abusively. Enraged by this, the player retaliated by doing the same to those who mocked him. His action during the game led to disciplinary action against him. Every player on the field is caught on some sort of surveillance camera, so it was impossible to hide his mistake. He was fined Rs 1,20,000/- for this offence. That is half of the salary he got for playing that match. Why did you behave this way? When asked about that, he said, "They slandered me and my family. I was impatient and behaved like that." Our reputation can be lost by our words and actions. Answering back can lower our standards and lead to many problems as a result; At such times it is wise to remain calm.

 

Jesus Christ calmed down to the surprise of the ruler. Even when so many false accusations and slanderous words were thrown at him, he remained silent. He did not justify himself or deny the charges, and he did not even speak.

 

Beloved! The psalmist says: "I will guard my ways, lest I sin with my tongue...I will bridle my mouth" (Ps. 39:1,2)! We should get used to cover our mouths with our hands at various problems and at the peak of anger so as not to spill words. Let us only appeal to God for our affairs. God will reveal justice.
