Fasting

 

"Consecrate a fast,;…" - Joel 1:14

 

Ramu is a great runner. He was studying in sixth standard. For the first time he was selected for the district level competition from his school. The special training started.Then his height and weight were checked. The teacher started the training. She advised him to lose weight. She explained the diet. On the day of the race, the teacher gave Ramu juice and glucose, asking him not to eat in the morning, but take what I give you. The match started at seven in the morning. Ramu won. Yes, only those who know how to hate desired food and avoid food when necessary can succeed in the field of sports. Fasting is necessary in our spiritual life.

 

But fasting has become a forgotten thing in today's Christian world. Feasting, not fasting, has become a habit. Esther prayed and fasted and saved the Jewish family. The people of Nineveh fasted and prayed and received God's mercy. And were saved from destruction. Nehemiah fasted and prayed and received God's plan and completed it. Why did Jesus Christ himself fast and pray before starting his ministry during the days he walked on earth. He overcame the devil with the fruit of fasting. Fasting is necessary to overcome demons. "We read in Matthew 17:21 that this caste devil will not depart except by prayer and fasting. We should pray and read the scriptures while fasting. Then we will receive new strength. So we can overcome difficult situations easily.

 

Beloved, I am bound by the bond of sin, do you want to be freed? Fast for a while and sit at his feet. Fast and pray for a successful completion before starting a task. Jesus Christ says that the days will come when the Bridegroom will be taken and then they will fast. But we do not fast without knowing the time we are in. Let us fast, overcome the devils and live a victorious life with Him in the world.
