Fasting and going forth

 

“These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone" - Matthew 23:23

 

During the time of Jesus Christ, the scribes strictly adhered to certain truths of the scriptures; Some truths have been overlooked. When it comes to tithe, they paid tithe not only in money but also in cumin. But they have forgotten the important things of the Scriptures, namely justice, mercy and faith. For this the Lord rebuked them, "Woe unto you."

 

When it comes to whether offering is important or mercy is important, our Lord said, "These things must be done, and those things must not be left out." Yes, all truths of the Scriptures should be balanced and applied.

 

It is our Lord's command that the gospel be preached to all the world. The important word to note in Matthew 28:19 is "you shall depart". . . Yes, disciples should go out and evangelize where the gospel has not been preached. Today many times fasting prayers are conducted for the salvation of the people of the country. That is very good, but we stop with praying. It is necessary to think whether we are departing for the salvation of people.

 

During the days when the Lord Jesus Christ was on earth, prayer was one of the main things in his life. We read in the Gospels that he fasted for forty days at the beginning of his ministry. But our Lord did not stop there, we read that he "went through all the towns and villages . . . preaching the gospel" (Matthew 9:35). As Jesus Christ left for us, "fasting and going out" is the way!

 

If the European missionaries had stayed with them fasting and praying in their lands, you and I could not have been saved. We know the Gospel because they embarked on dangerous sea voyages and inland in oxcarts. Let us fast and pray like them; Let us go forth and preach the gospel everywhere. May the Lord himself bless you!
