Father's will

 

"…nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done…" - Luke 22:42

 

Fourteen-year-old Ida Scudder's dreams and ideals were to live in America. She never wanted to come to India as a missionary and suffer that too suffer like her parents. The deaths of three young women before her eyes when she came to India for a holiday affected her deeply. Especially the deaths of women who died in childbirth due to the lack of female doctors inspired Ida to study medicine. She learned that it was God's will for her to save Indian women who were perishing due to ignorance. Ida immediately devoted her life to work as a medical missionary in India. Even today the hospital Vellore C.M.C benefit more individuals. The reason for this is that Ida knew and acted according to Gods will.

 

The Lord Jesus Christ prayed before his crucifixion, "Father, if it is your will, let this vessel pass from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." (Luke 12:42) Jesus Christ came down from heaven and offered himself as a living sacrifice to do the Father's will to redeem the people who are perishing in the world.

 

Beloved! Jesus triumphantly accomplished the Father's will on the cross. Jesus gave no place to himself. He depended on the Father for everything. He did nothing contrary to the Father's will. And Mary, the mother of Jesus, answered the angel's words, Behold, I am the servant of the Lord. He surrendered himself to the Lord's will that it may be done to me according to your word. Do we not give room to self-will and try to act according to the will of the Lord who made us? Only those who have dedicated themselves to God's will God use for His great plan of redemption. Will you know and act from today?
