A divine decree

 

"You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek..." - Psalm 110:4

 

Lyndon B. Johnson's inauguration as the 36th President of the United States is the most famous photograph. John F. Kennedy was shot and killed that day. Later that day, Lyndon Johnson was standing in a small cabin inside the Air Force to participate in the inauguration ceremony. He was accompanied by his wife Ladybird and Jacqueline Kennedy. It was the first time a US President had been sworn in as president in an airplane, a female district judge had conducted the ceremony, and a Catholic Bible had been used to take the oath!

 

As today's scripture indicates, this is the most pious and noble covenant pledge ever made in history. That oath was taken when the priesthood of Christ was instituted. To take an oath is to commit oneself with devotion. Christ's priesthood was based on the seed of Aaron. Jesus Christ is our eternal King and Priest, just as Melchizedek was a priest and king appointed by God.

 

Beloved, the blood of beasts was poured into the earthly priesthood. But Christ gave Himself for our sins. The Lamb fulfilled Jesus' earthly priesthood. Similarly, many people in this world give various promises. But not all promises are fulfilled. But God our Father fulfilled what he said for us. So, he is also our eternal King. Let us believe in his assurance that he will come back. He who said he would come will surely come to take us. So far everything he said is coming true. It is certain that he will come as a judge to judge the earth. Let us prepare to meet him.
